Pixies Plan to Record New Album

According to comments from drummer David Lovering to the Spinner, Pixies will "make something new" following their current tour. The band has been flirting with making a new album for years, but the band hopes to "bury the hatchet." U2's Bono already urged the band to make a new record. Boots Electric Debut this Fall

Jesse Hughes of Eagles of Death Metal will release a solo, debut album from his Boots Electric moniker this fall through Dangerbird Records. Hughes is currently in a Los Angeles studio with producer Tony Hoffer (Beck, Depeche Mode, Supergrass) and co-wrote some of the new songs with Money Mark (Beastie Boys). [www.dangerbirdrecords.com]

The National Working on New Covers Comp, Contribute to Portal 2

According to a Spinner interview with bassist Scott Devendorf, The National will contribute a track to a forthcoming Grateful Dead covers album (also to be a follow-up to the Dark Was The Night compilation). However, it's in the "very early stages" and not due out until the "next year or two." In related news, the band have contributed a new song, "Exile Vilify," to the Portal 2 soundtrack. Todd Weinstock Joins Afrobots, Hustle Club

In a new Ryan's Rock Show interview with Todd Weinstock (Glassjaw), the guitarist revealed he's joined a new project called Afrobots, which features drummer Tony Hajjar (At The Drive-In). As well, he's been working with the group Hustle Club. Weinstock formed the now defunct Men, Women & Children in 2004. [www.ryansrockshow.com]

The Love Language NC Residency
