Hot Hot Heat are planning on releasing an EP of acoustic renditions of songs from their latest release, Elevator. It is unknown at this time if the EP will be exclusively digital, just for promo, or actually printed up in old school physical CD form.

An upcoming DVD documentary entitled Drive Well, Sleep Carefully: On The Road with Death Cab for Cutie will be released on July 26th via Plexifilm. The on-the-road documentary features a behind the scenes look at Death Cab for Cutie on their 2004 tour in support of Transatlanticism. Check the more for the live tracks to be featured in between shots of the band members being goofier than you thought imaginable.

Maria Taylor Goes Solo

Maria Taylor (Azure Ray and Now It's Overhead) will release her debut solo album, 11:11 on May 24th, 2005. She just wrapped up a tour with Ben Lee and Har Mar Superstar and will no doubt have more touring planned around the release of the album.

Red Scare Records will be reissuing the last two albums from The Lillingtons, Death By Television (1999) and Backchannel Boradcast (2001). Both Albums were previously released on Lookout! Records and previously been hard to get a hold of.

Apparently British Sea Power are a bit too up front with their lyrics as MTV has already turned down / banned their video for their next single "Please Stand Up" due to the usage of the lyrics "wetter and wetter." Of course we'll provide you with the links to said video as soon as it comes to the Internet, as we don't feel it's "too suggestive" for anyone.

Sufjan Stevens tours Illinois - the album, not just the state

In support of his forthcoming album, Illinois (July 5th), Sufjan Stevens will be touring. Expect to hear such future classics as "Let's Hear That String Part Again, Because I Don't Think They Heard It All the Way Out in Bushnell". This is just the first handful of dates.. expect more as the summer rolls along.

MF Doom, DJ Dangermouse, and Meatwad?

Apparently Dangermouse and MF Doom will be collaborating on a project to be released under the moniker Dangerdoom. The weird twist here is that the concept record is focused around a pair of masked cartoon mice that live in the same neighborhood as a variety of Adult Swim characters (guest appearances by Master Shake? Meatwad? MC Pee Pants? Harvey Birdman?). We'll keep you up to date just for the weirdness factor on this one.

Summer festivals are a dime a dozen this year but I swear the Austin City Limits Festival looks to be one of the more impressive lineups. If headlining acts like Coldplay or Oasis don't do much for you then you should be content seeing the likes of Bloc Party, Arcade Fire, The Doves, Spoon, The Frames, Futureheads, M83 and more beyond that. Beginning on May 25th at Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Theatre, the band will headline shows throughout the month of June supported by Camper Van Beethoven, including a sold-out stop at New York's Central Park SummerStage.

Gang Of 2005

Gang of Four have recorded a new double disc set, to be released by V2 Records on August 30th. The set will feature both re-recordings of the band's classics such as “To Hell with Poverty” (the first single), “I Love a Man in a Uniform” and “Damaged Goods" as well as new mixes from the likes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ladytron, Dandy Warhols and The Futureheads among others. Furthermore, for the first time since 1981, the band will be taking the stage across the US.

System of a Downed Mars

System of a Down has confirmed that they will headline their first major U.S. tour in three years this Fall. While specific dates are being confirmed and will be announced shortly, we do know that the band will kick off a two-month trek in early August and will bring along The Mars Volta for the fun.
