New York's The Walkmen have been hard at work on new material in preparation for a trip to Sweet Tea Studios in Oxford, MS this August to record a new album. Recently, the band posted their first instrumental, "Lemon Hill," to download on MySpace, but you can also grab an MP4 straight from the band.

Maximo Park will close out the last dates on their current US tour with a performance for Jimmy Kimmel Live on July 25th.

Example (aka Elliot Gleave) is the lastest act to join Mike Skinner's label, The Beats. Example's latest single is "I Don't Want To," which you can hear over on MySpace or watch the video for on YouTube. The full-length, What We Made, is scheduled for a UK release in September.

Almost Gold have signed Chicago-based, dance-pop duo Walter Meego, who are currently working on their debut full-length (not due until 2008). For now, jump over to MySpace and listen to new demos for "Through A Keyhole" and "What I Want." Meego will head out on tour with labelmates VHS or Beta in late August.

Film School are set release Hideout, the group's second full-length for Beggars Group, on September 11th. Check out more details at label website and the tracklist after the jump.

According to a recent article at MTV.com, Chris Pennie had indeed left The Dillinger Escape Plan and joined the ranks of Coheed and Cambria. Pennie submitted his own repsonse to Rock Sound. Ire Works from Dillinger is set for an October release.

The Cribs will be playing with Maximo Park for free this Wednesday, July 18th in Kansas City, MO as part of the Myspace Secret Shows series. The show is at The Record Bar and is all ages.

Ken Andrews has announced the release of Secret Things - Remixes from the Lost Satellite, a digital-only EP, on July 24th. The EP features winners from the 'Remixes from the Lost Satellite' contest.

Fresh off their European tour, the White Rabbits will be making an appearance on the David Letterman show July 19th, before kicking off their own US tour, including a run of dates with The Cribs.

G. Love is back on tour in support of the release of a live DVD entitled A Year and a Night with G. Love & Special Sauce on July 31st. The DVD is an accumlation of tour highlights over the last year, as well as the entire show from the last stop of the tour and a live CD.

The New Young Pony Club will release their debut album, Fantastic Playroom on August 28th in the US (it came out last week in the UK). Look for US dates later this year in support of the album.

Tim Kasher and The Good Life will return on September 11th with Help Wanted Nights via Saddle Creek. In the meantime, the group have prepped "Heartbroke" from said album to be released on August 7th, backed with "Thirty-Year Evaluation." Pre-order the single over at the Saddle Creek store.

Silverchair has postponed four shows on their current US tour to allow singer, Daniel Johns to recover fully from a case of laryngitis. The San Diego, Anaheim, Los Angeles and San Francisco gigs will now take place in mid-November at the same venues. New, rescheduled dates are as follows:

Kings of Leon have announced the second leg of their US tour this fall with label-mates Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Included in those dates is a stop at Lollapalooza in August.

It's hard to believe that KMFDM have been around for 24 years, but it's true and the band has announced the release of their 5th studio album, Tohuvabohu on August 21st.

Sea Wolf will will drop their debut full-length, Leaves In The River, on September 25th. To celebrate the release, the band will accompany Silversun Pickups for some dates this summer, followed by extensive touring into the fall.

Despite past reports, The Knife are finally set to release the 3-disc Silent Shout Deluxe next week on July 17th.The package will include the album Silent Shout, the DVD Silent Shout: An Audiovisual Experience (featuring the Andreas Nilsson-directed live show), the entire collection of Knife videos, as well as a live audio CD with music from the DVD performance.
