VHS or Beta bring on the comets

The official VHS or Beta follow-up to Night on Fire will be entitled Bring on the Comets. The disc will hit stores on August 28th via Astralwerks and will likely have an extensive, un-ending, tour along with it. In the meantime, a handful of summer dates have been announced for the band.

Animal Collective release jam

As previously stated, Domino Records will be releasing the next record from Animal Collective. What wasn't reported was that the album will be entitled Strawberry Jam and is set for a release in September. In the meantime, you can catch the band touring all over.

Interpol rumors all put to rest

We speculated that the next Interpol record would be released on Capitol this summer. Turns out we were right. The album, Our Love to Admire, hits stores on July 10th. The band will be going on a worldwide tour in support of the album but if they aren't hitting your town you could always scour the internet looking for a download of the first single, "The Heinrich Maneuver."

The Mooney Suzuki will set out on their US Summer tour this June in support of their upcoming release Have Mercy. After a string of tour dates opening for Albert Hammond, Jr. they’re heading back out on the road for a headlining tour with The Photo Atlas and Dark Romantics.

Smashing Pumpkins Residencies In Asheville and San Fran

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced a string of overseas tour dates as well as nine-show residency June 23, 24, 26, 27, 29, 30, and July 2, 3 and 5 at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC in addition to eight nights at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco. The shows are in anticipation of the release of their new album, Zeitgeist, and we have no clue why they chose Asheville either.

Lightning Dust Blows Off Black Mountain

Amber Webber and Joshua Wells of Black Mountain have launched a new side project by the name of Lightning Dust. The duo will release their self-titled full-length on June 19th through Jagjaguwar. Listen to "Listened On" and "Castles and Caves" on MySpace. Webber and Wells will head out on tour in June with Cave Singers to usher in the album.

The Cribs have completed recording their new album titled, Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever, scheduled for domestic release July 17. The album was produced by Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand, mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) and includes special guest appearance by Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth.

Ex-Hot Hot Heat member (and current Wolf Parade guitarist), Dante De Caro is set to release a self-titled Johnny And The Moon full-length album in the US this summer. The album has been available in Canada for some time, but will finally see a US release next month.

Metric and Emily Haines Get Release Happy

Metric is hard at work this Spring and Summer on their new album, meanwhile frontwoman Emily Haines will release a new EP entitled What Is Free to a Good Home on July 24th. To tide Metric fans over, the band will also release their first album, Grow Up and Blow Away (which was recorded in 1999, but never officially released) on June 26th.
