Just back from a US tour with Modest Mouse, and new songs in tow, the men of MAN MAN have announced a series of one-off dates.
Billboard is reporting that Ra Ra Riot drummer John Pike was found dead this weekend in the waters of Buzzards Bay - a body of water located less than a mile from the venue where the band had played the night prior. Our condolences go out to Pike's family, friends and anyone who knew him.
Brazilians Os Mutantes will return to the United States for a handful of shows in July--four, to be exact. Most of us won't get a chance to see the revived trio, who created some of the most progressive and intelligent psychedelia of the late '60s. Luaka Bop plans on reissuing the collection Everything Is Possible sometime this year in an expanded format.
Ra Ra Riot, one of New York City's most hyped bands as of late, will drop its debut EP on July 10th. The youthful band (they're all around 20) already built up an enormous amount of buzz in the past year at the SXSW and CMJ festivals, and certainly doesn't seem to be slowing down. Late summer will see some new material from Angels of Light (Michael Gira, ex-Swans). Titled We Are Him, the album is slated for an August 20th release on Young God Records.
Word has come that Silverchair have now secured a new US record deal and will release their new album, Young Modern, in the US on July 24th. The band is already confirmed for a mainstage appearance on Lollapalooza, Saturday August 3rd in Chicago and they have plans for a full North American tour this July and August.
First, Phantom Planet post a teaser video of their forthcoming album (slated for Spring, but that's doubtful). Now, the band has scheduled a couple shows at The Roxy in Los Angeles, CA. The first was last night and the second is June 4th. Things are looking good for a Planet return, once Alex Greenwald gets back from hitting festivals with Mark Ronson this summer.
Junior Senior will finally release their sophomore effort, Hey Hey My My Yo Yo, in the States on August 14th thanks to Crunchy Frog. Members of Le Tigre, Peaches and The B-52's make appearances on the album. Listen to a couple tracks over on MySpace.
Autumn of The Seraphs, the forthcoming album from Pinback, now has been scheduled for September 11th release through Tough & Go. Mario Rubalcaba (Rocket From The Crypt, Hot Snakes) and Chris Prescott (No Knife) manned the drums in the studio for the effort. Tracklist after the jump.
Barsuk will release the sixth album from John Vanderslice, Emerald City, on July 24th. The album is "fueled by an era of deep insecurity and paranoia" after a visa application for his French girlfriend was rejected by the US government. Paulson have posted the video for the track "Calling On You" on MySpace. Said song was the best of the four new tracks added to the re-release of All At Once on Doghouse Records back in March (grab an MP3 of it in the Downloads). The band is on the road until August, which means they're playing your town.

The Willowz have announced a summer tour with The Detroit Cobras in support of their new album Chautauqua, which hits stores March 20th from Dim Mak Records.
June 5th will see the release of The Best Of David Bowie 1980-1987: Sight & Sound from David Bowie. The 36-track CD/DVD collection’s will include 15 video clips and will share the release date with the reissue of Bowie’s classic 1974 album Young Americans in an expanded CD/DVD package.
We previously reported on the UK release of the new album from The Editors. We've now learned An End Has A Start will hit the US on July 17th via Epic/FADER Label. Good news indeed.
Paul McCartney will release Memory Almost Full, his follow-up to 2005's Chaos and Creation in the Backyard, on June 5th through Hear Music (aka Starbucks). Sessions for the "retrospective" album began before Chaos with producer David Kahne. The first single, "Dance Tonight," will premiere on YouTube on Wednesday, May 23rd. The Michel Gondry directed video features performances from Natalie Portman and Mackenzie Crook.
