St. Vincent (Annie Clark) will release a new full-length, Strange Mercy, on September 12th through 4AD. The 12-track album was recorded in Dallas, TX with producer John Congleton and "finds [Clark] redefining the idea of the guitar hero." [www.4ad.com]

New Avalanches Album is Finished

Modular People's Steven Pav Pavlovic recently told The Music Network that The Avalanches have completed their follow-up to 2000's Since I Left You. He stated, "[they're] finished, and they're celebrating. And they're going to have a little party to celebrate finishing it." Only some "tweaking to the production elements" and mixing is left. A lead single is expected in 2011, but the album will mostly likely be released in 2012. [www.themusicnetwork.com]

Guano Apes to Release Bel Air in June

Germany's Guano Apes have reunited and will release a new full-length, Bel Air, on June 21st through The End Records (it was previoulsy released in Europe on April 1st). Modest Mouse Working with Big Boi, Chris Carmouche

Last month, Pitchfork ran a story about Modest Mouse collaborating with Big Boi (OutKast) and producer Chris Carmouche on some new tracks (via a Big Boi tweet). Yesterday, TwentyFourBit posted two new tracks that could be fruits of that relationship. Bob Mould Autobiography Due in June

Bob Mould will release his autobiography, See A Little Light: The Trail of Rage and Melody, on June 15th. The book chronicles his time with Husker Du, Mould's solo work, "his struggles with his own homosexuality, the complexities of his intimate relationships, as well as his own drug and alcohol addiction." Mastodon Tracking New Album in Atlanta

Mastodon are currently holed up in Atlanta's Doppler Studios with producer Mike Elizondo working on the follow-up to 2009's Crack The Skye. Drums were previously tracked at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles. Two new album tracks, "Blasteroids" and "All The Heavy Lifting," are due out later this year. The band have also announced a European summer tour and will contribute a ZZ Top cover to the new Transformers soundtrack. [www.mastodonrocks.com]

Indefinite Hibernation for Silverchair

After nearly 20 years together, Silverchair have announced the band's "indefinite hibernation" on Facebook. The band members will each do their own thing for the "foreseeable future." The band had been working on the Young Modern follow-up since 2009, but it has been scrapped. Ben Gillies and Daniel Johns are both currently working on new music. [www.facebook.com]

Smashing Pumpkins Announce Reissue Plans, Oceania in September

Smashing Pumpkins are gearing up for a lengthy reissue campaign. The band will reissue Gish, Siamese Dream and Pisces Iscariot later this year. Each release will include unspecified "bonus material." The following albums in the discography will be released in 2012 and 2013. Additionally, the Pumpkins are prepping a new album, Oceania, which will include 10 new songs not already released as part of the Teargarden by Kaleidyscope project. [www.rollingstone.com]
