Be Your Own Pet is already splashing around the indie scene with their new Summer Sensation EP but now the kids (yes, kids) are ready to unleash their debut full-length on the world. Once again on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label, the self-titled record will see the light of day on June 6th. Check out a couple tracks in the downloads section for a preview.

Gnarls Barkley will be doing a secret show (not so secret now, though) at The Roxy in Los Angeles tomorrow for FREE. Myspace is behind this, so the place will undoubtedly be full hours before the show starts. Doors open at 7 PM, with the 35-minute set starting half an hour later.

In one of the stranger pieces of news I've read lately, it appears that the Gorillaz have been asked to pen music for a German opera company to perform. The opus will be based on Monkey Journey to the West, an ancient Chinese story of a chimp that becomes a man. Somehow it all seems strangely appropriate.

To tide fans over while they record their next album, Blood Brothers will release a 7-track EP entitled Love Rhymes With Hideous Car Wreck. The disc hits stores on May 23rd and features an alternate version of "Crimes" as well as a remix of the Gang of Four track "Anthrax."

A variety of impromptu covers from Yo La Tengo and their appearances on the WFMU fundraising shows have been compiled into one 70-minute disc entitled Yo La Tengo Murder The Classics. The disc is available for sale on the bands website. No tracklisting has been provided, you buy it at your own risk.

In continuing support of Ex Hex (and in celebration of her recent signing to Kill Rock Stars), Mary Timony is hitting the road. She'll be alongside Pinback on several of the dates.

The new Starlight Mints album is now available from Barsuk Records and it's a damn fine piece of work. As chance has it, the band is also out on tour in support of said album,Drowaton, with Dios Malos and The Octopus Project in tow.

After their mini-tour of Austin it became obvious that Tapes N' Tapes needed to play more shows, across the country. So, in continuing support of The Loon - the band is doing a fairly comprehensive national batch of dates. If you haven't downloaded the track "Cowbell" from the band, I suggest you do so now.

Peeping Tom, the long-awaited project from Mike Patton, will appear on Late Night with Conan O'Brien on May 26th, a mere 4 days before the album release.

The Working Title, if hadn't heard, will release their debut About-Face on Cause For Alarm Records sometime in June. Right now the boys are heading out to build some hype; their pals Augustana are supporting.

If you had your heart set on seeing The Subways in May, you might want to sit down for this breaking news. The band has unfortunately had to give up on any live shows in the near future, as nodules have taken up residency on Billy Lunn's vocal chords for the time being. But fear not! The group should still be on schedule for mid-summer and beyond, pending Lunn's recovery. Their current record is Young For Eternity, out now.

It's always good to see a band get a break that they deserve. Ladyfinger, whose EP we reviewed ages ago, will be releasing their full-length record on Saddle Creek this coming September 26th. You can preview the bands sound over on their myspace page and then check the band out on tour this summer.

The Duke Spirit have yet another US run coming up in May, in support of their debut, Cuts Across The Land (preview it with this album player). This time around you can catch them opening for Snow Patrol. In case you missed the previous dates, we'll hit you with 'em again.

You can preview two additional tracks from the forthcoming Regina Spektor album, Begin To Hope, but it'll require a television. "Samson" will be featured on CSI:NY this Wednesday, April 26th and "On The Radio" found its way into Grey's Anatomy on May 7th.

At this rate, it's possible everyone in America will have heard Popaganda (their new album, in case you're behind) before year's end.

Fiona Apple has announced an extended run of dates, which constitute a well-deserved, headlining tour in support of Extraordinary Machine. David Garza will support throughout, with Damien Rice lending his talents to more than half the dates.
