Be Your Own Pet is already splashing around the indie scene with their new Summer Sensation EP but now the kids (yes, kids) are ready to unleash their debut full-length on the world. Once again on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label, the self-titled record will see the light of day on June 6th. Check out a couple tracks in the downloads section for a preview.

Gnarls Barkley Secret Show

Gnarls Barkley will be doing a secret show (not so secret now, though) at The Roxy in Los Angeles tomorrow for FREE. Myspace is behind this, so the place will undoubtedly be full hours before the show starts. Doors open at 7 PM, with the 35-minute set starting half an hour later.

Gorillaz in the opera

In one of the stranger pieces of news I've read lately, it appears that the Gorillaz have been asked to pen music for a German opera company to perform. The opus will be based on Monkey Journey to the West, an ancient Chinese story of a chimp that becomes a man. Somehow it all seems strangely appropriate.

Love Rhymes with Hideous Car Wreck

To tide fans over while they record their next album, Blood Brothers will release a 7-track EP entitled Love Rhymes With Hideous Car Wreck. The disc hits stores on May 23rd and features an alternate version of "Crimes" as well as a remix of the Gang of Four track "Anthrax."

Yo La Tengo Murder the Classics

Tapes N' Tapes tour outside Austin

After their mini-tour of Austin it became obvious that Tapes N' Tapes needed to play more shows, across the country. So, in continuing support of The Loon - the band is doing a fairly comprehensive national batch of dates. If you haven't downloaded the track "Cowbell" from the band, I suggest you do so now.

Subways Are a No-Go for May Shows

If you had your heart set on seeing The Subways in May, you might want to sit down for this breaking news. The band has unfortunately had to give up on any live shows in the near future, as nodules have taken up residency on Billy Lunn's vocal chords for the time being. But fear not! The group should still be on schedule for mid-summer and beyond, pending Lunn's recovery. Their current record is Young For Eternity, out now.
