It's possible one reason Tapes 'N Tapes just announced a tour sending them places far from Austin, TX has something to do with their signing to XL Recordings. Rest assured, The Loon should hit local record stores across the nation this summer. Catch them live, if you can.

Shooting At Unarmed Men Album

The post-Mclusky outfit from John Chapple, Shooting At Unarmed Men, will release a new album, Yes! Tinnitus!, on May 23rd in tow of Too Pure. You can hear "Get On Out And Come Right In" from the album (as well a track from their debut EP) over at the band's MySpace page.

As the brother half of the Fiery Furnaces equation, Matt Friedberger has established himself as a worthy contender for a solo jaunt. The newly established 859 Recordings is taking him up on the offer, and will release Friedberger's debut Winter Women/Holy Ghost Language School on August 8th.

Best known for lending his skills to Ozomatli and Jurassic 5, Cut Chemist (Lucas Macfadden) has forged a noteworthy career as an incredible turntablist, and he'll be putting out his first solo record of the millenium on July 11th. The Audience's Listening will put Macfadden back on his own two feet, and you can check out some media on the new record in the Downloads.

New Lucero On the Way

Lucero will be heading to the studio soon with David Lowery (of Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker fame) to record their follow-up to 2005's Nobody's Darlings. Still untitled, the album should be out sometime in autumn, and right now the band is still pushing last month's release of the reissued The Attic Tapes.

Having just released Simpatico in the UK straight into the top 10 lists, The Charlatans UK are going to spread the word about the album in North America. The disc hits shelves on May 2nd and the band starts their tour here shortly thereafter.

Knives Don't Have Your Back

We told you that Emily Haines (Metric) would be releasing a solo album and now we can also inform you that it will be entitled Knives Don't Have Your Back. The disc hits stores on Sept. 26th on Last Gang Records. The album is expected to be quite a bit more withdrawn than the average Metric track but will still feature a number of typical Broken Social Scene style collaborations.

DJ Shadow, New Label, New Album

This just in: legendary hip hop producer DJ Shadow has teamed up with Universal Records for his next solo album. The record is untitled at the moment, but should hit stores sometime this summer. Guests already slated for the album include Q-Tip and David Banner.
