Coldplay Saturate The Market

On Monday, December 19th, Coldplay will release "Talk" as a worldwide single. Since the US have had "Talk" for some time, we're only getting the DVD release, featuring the "Talk" video directed by Anton Corbijn and their version of "Gravity" (a song they lent to Embrace). However, should you want to pick up the import single, you'll be privy to the unreleased song "Sleeping Sun." In other news, Coldplay will appear on Austin City Limits this Saturday, December 17th on PBS stations across the US (check your local listings). All of this hoo ha is, of course, in preparation for their upcoming 2006 tour.

Hot Hot Heat For The Holidays

Hot Hot Heat recorded a Holiday song by the name of "Christmas Day In The Sun" a couple months ago. The song has now been engineered and is ready for release as digital single on Tuesday, December 20th.

Metric Goes At It Again

Metric are excited to announce that they will open for The Rolling Stones on January 18th and 20th at Madison Square Garden. Following these dates, Metric will return to the US with a North American tour, kicking off March 7th at the Roxy in Boston and ending on April 15th at Detroit's St. Andrew's Hall.

Pledge Allegiance To The Yeah

Apparently, the forthcoming Yeah Yeah Yeahs album is due out soon, because the band have posted a contest online, titled "Pledge Allegiance To The Yeah." Karen O and Co. would like fans to design a flag to possibly be used on the cover, but definitely within the artwork for the new album. Eels Love Joni Mitchell

In addition to an upcoming live CD/DVD release, eels will take part in "The Music of Joni Mitchell at Carnegie Hall," a Joni Mitchell tribute concert scheduled for February 1st, 2006 at Carnegie Hall in NYC. The concert, which benefits the Music For Youth Foundation, will feature appearances from Ben Folds, Matisyahu, Michelle N'degeocello, Laurie Anderson, Suzanne Vega and Tracy Chapman, among others. Statistics / Desaparecidos fans take note - Intramural

The debut album from Denver Dally (known for his work in Statistics / Desaparecidos) will be released under the moniker Intramural on Slowdance Records in early 2006. Denver put together a bunch of instrumental tracks and distributed them to a variety of vocalists including (but not limited to) Men Women & Children, Brand New, The Faint, The Long Winters and many more. You can check out a song right here featuring Judah Nagler from The Velvet Teen on vocals.

Taste Of Chaos 2006

Looks like we kind of missed the boat on Taste of Chaos being the "Winter Warped Tour." The previously announced tour, will in fact feature Deftones, Thrice, dredg, As I Lay Dying, Pelican, Atreyu, Silverstein, The Receiving End Of Sirens, Funeral For A Friend and Story Of The Year at almost every stop. The tour will run through the US and Canada from February 16th to April 15th, so there are plenty of chances to catch the show. Head over to tasteofchaos.com or MySpace for additional details.

A Scanner Darkly

According to a few sources, Radiohead may be composing the score to the upcoming Richard Linklater movie, A Scanner Darkly (adapted from the Phillip K. Dick novel of the same name). Shins working on a new disc

Never ones to rest on their laurels, The Shins are already working on the follow-up to Chutes Too Narrow. Band members have stated that they are in no hurry but that the tenative album titles may be Wincing the Night Away or Sleeping Lessons.
