Forget Cassettes To The Studio

Forget Cassettes will play their final hometown show this year this coming Friday, November 11th at The End in Nashville, TN. As previously reported, the band recently completed demos for their follow-up to Instruments of Action with producer "King" Richard Feaster and will be taking the upcoming break to begin full-fledged recording. The band have plans to release one of the demos to their website in the near future.

Beastie Boys Documentary To The Big Screen

There have been a few more details released about the upcoming Beastie Boys documentary, Awesome; I Fuckin' Shot That. The film was recently bought by THINKFilm who've stated they will release the film in Spring 2006 after "significant festival presentations early [2006]." In addition, director Nathaniel Hornblower (MCA) also reported that a DVD will be released next summer with many of the same features as their Beastie Boys Video Anthology Criterion Collection release in 2000. For now, fans with access to the Boys' hub can download a hi-res version of the movie poster for their own personal use.

Viva La Bands Mini-Tour

Film School: A Beggars Debut

A Colores

Instrumental, post-rock quintet Tristeza will release their new album, A Colores, via Better Looking Records on November 22nd (pushed back from November 8th). If you've yet to hear any new material, you can preview the entire album with this handy ecard (and download a few older tracks at Better Looking). The band is in the midst of a nation-wide tour that started November 2nd and will end with their album release party in Tijuana on December 3rd.

What happens if you get Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age) and Isobel Campbell (Belle & Sebastian) together to record an album? You get Ballad of the Broken Seas is what you get. Look for it in February 2006 via V2.

EA proves video games are more powerful than you think

EA Games is teaming up with Nettwerk Recordings to form EA Recordings - a 'record label' of sorts that will release ringtones, remixes, and original music from their games. Sounds nuts but when you think about it - is there that big of a difference between a movie soundtrack and a videogame soundtrack these days? I think not. Check out all the digital music distributors (iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, etc) to get your EA download on.

The new single from The White Stripes will be "The Denial Twist." The band has put together a new video with Michel Gondry that retells their weeklong appearance on the Conan O'Brien Show, complete with an appearance by Conan himself. Given that Gondry rarely disappoints, we'll have a link for you to the video as soon as we find one.

Return Of Fenix TX

For fans of Fenix TX who wished for reconciliation after the band’s sudden break-up in 2002, the dream will become reality on November 8th when the band releases Purple Reign In Blood - Live. The band launched a tour to bring the celebration directly to their fans and you can find the dates below. Also, as a thank-you to fans, Fenix TX will be performing 20-minute acoustic sets at a numbe of in-stores along the tour route starting the week of release, those are below too.
