Road to Rouen - live, acoustically

Reported by yewknee

Point your webbrowser over here to catch Supergrass performing live (and acoustically) on KCRW today around 11:20 PST. Expect to hear songs from their recently released, and amazingly good, album Road to Rouen. Also expect some cheeky humor, it's commonplace with those guys.

The Goalkeepers Revenge

Reported by yewknee

Belle & Sebastian will release The Goalkeeper’s Revenge in early 2006. The disc was produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck) and will probably be the much more upbeat style you can now come to expect from the band. We've even got some expected song titles...

Guerolito tracklisting

Reported by yewknee

The upcoming Beck remix album, Guerolito, that we discussed the other day has an official tracklisting now. Normally I'm no fan of remix albums, but the likes of AIR, Islands, Boards of Canada, 8-bit, El-p and many others may finally change my mind. The artwork is also expected to be a remixed take on the original version.

World Leader Pretend Tour aka WLPT

Reported by yewknee

It's fall, so that means fall tours are kicking into high gear so that bands don't have to brave the icy roads in their overpacked vans. World Leader Pretend realizes this, so they're hitting the road. If you haven't heard them yet, download the mp3 of "Bang Theory" and then check out their website.

Rivers returns to college, Pinkerton fans heave sigh of relief

Reported by yewknee

Seems like the latest Weezer tour might be the last one for a little bit as Rivers Cuomo has announced that he'll be returning to Harvard in the spring to get his degree in English. I can't say I'm too disappointed, I'd rather there be another fantastic English major roaming around than a slightly better-than-mediocre rock band trolling the airwaves.

Low loses member, gains member

Reported by yewknee

Low bassist Zak Sally has reportedly left the band to focus on Lamano 21, his printing business. Given that the band has decided not to tour for an extended period of time this isn't a huge blow to their itinerary. He will be replaced by Matt Livingston.

Pieblad Goes Biodiesel

Reported by simple

Piebald has announced that they are going on tour once again, and this time they are bringing the grease. The veteran indie rockers shunned the exorbitant gas prices by converting their 12-person van into a vegetable oil running machine. The 28-date tour is in support of the DVD/ CD collection "Killa Bros and Killa Bees" out November 8 on SideOneDummy Records.

Merge Takes Vinyl Digital

Reported by simple

The mad scientists at Merge corporate record headquarters here in Durham, North Carolina, have cooked up a digital angle on that old standby, the LP. Vinyl purists who pick up a copy of The Clientele's newest LP, Strange Geometry, will receive a CD insert inside the LP with a coupon entitling the bearer to a free one-time download of the full album, in digital mp3 format. Pretty smart if you ask me.

I think we're all aware of the fact that MTV is basically unwatchable these days if you're interested in seeing anything actually Music related (and M2 is on its way), so MTV is announced mtvu Uber. The station will be exclusive to the Internet and the plan is to focus on college radio acts, underground bands, interviews, and exclusive short films by college students.
