VICE Records to release insane song

Reported by yewknee

VICE will release the song "Do They Know It's Hallowe'en" by North American Halloween Prevention Initiative with all proceeds going to UNICEF. The CD and 12" Vinyl single will be available on October 11th. The insane part comes in when you find out that the song features appearances from the likes of Beck, Arcade Fire, David Cross, Wolf Parade, Buck65, Sonic Youth, and a ton more. Your guess is as good as ours when it comes to what it will sound like but it should be pretty amazing. You can read much more about it here.

The Book Of Lists

Reported by heyrevolver

Who are The Book Of Lists? They are the latest of many Canadian imports picking up steam in the US. The band is also the brainchild of Chris Fey, formerly of Radio Berlin. They've already released their Red Arrows EP on Global Symphonic, however they're hard at work on a new full-length to be recorded this winter. Download three tracks from their debut EP at their official website and keep up with them over at MySpace, too.

Jackson and His Computer Band

Jackson and His Computer Band will release their Warp Records debut, Smash, on September 20th. The record, from French producer Jackson Fourgeaud, has been described as a "style orgy, a psychedelic celebration of conflict." Basically, a record that should inject some much needed originality into electronic music. For a taste of what's to come, head over to Bleep and preview the tracks from the "Rock On" single.

Gorillaz promotions are weird

Reported by yewknee

Not having a proper tour has caused the Gorillaz to choose some "interesting" avenues for promotion of Demon Days. Case and point - the band will appear, pixeled, at Habbo Hotel on August 24th to answer questions from fans. Call it an online chat, call it an excursion into a pixelated virtual posh hotel, I call it weird.
