Illinoise delayed due to Superman involvement

Reported by yewknee

If you didn't preorder the new Sufjan Stevens album when we told you to you're going to have to wait a bit longer. The album, intended to hit stores today, was delayed due to the use of a Superman character on the cover - also known as copyright infringement if you're DC Comics. Hopefully Illinoise will hit shelves sooner rather than later but there is no set release date at this time.

Silent Uproar Celebrates 5 Years

Reported by simple

Today is a special day for Silent Uproar. July 5th, 2005 marks 5 years that SilentUproar.com has been bringing you (almost) daily music news, album reviews (we now have over 1,000 in the archive), downloads, exclusive interviews, contests, and other goodies. We are extremely proud to make it to this milestone and excited about all the things we have planned for the next 5 years. What started as a site to share music news with friends has grown into a music community receiving over 2 million hits a month and a company with working relationships with every major and important indie record label in the world. We even stepped it up a notch with the creation of SU Records and released records from Far-Less (who is now on Tooth & Nail Records) and Feersum Ennjin (featuring Paul D’Amour of Tool / Lusk and Mac Burrus of Self). Later this year we will release new records from Austin’s Bellaparker, and The Avett Brother’s old rock and roll band, Nemo with more releases planned for later this year and next year as we continue to grow the label. We are also looking to the new year as a time to refocus the site on the things we feel our visitors are most interested in. A future redesign will bring our content to you in an easier to read way, a RSS feed has been created and we are working to incorporate content from other music sites using RSS feeds, and we are bringing on 20-30 new writers to expand the amount of music that gets covered on the site. The next five years will be about making Silent Uproar a bigger and better site as well as growing the SU brand to help spread the word about good music. Lastly, I just wanted to say thanks to my fellow Silent Uproar masterminds Robbie (player) and Michael (yewknee) for all the work and ideas they have put into the site, as well as to the Silent Uproar staff past and present for all the work that has been done. We all do this for you the visitor out of our love for music so everyone that has given their time to Silent Uproar deserves a nice high five. To celebrate this milestone, all of our label friends have chipped in and offered up a ton of CDs, signed items, records, electronics, and other goodies for us to give to our visitors - think of it as a Birthday gift from us to you. Be sure and check back in the next couple days as the full feature unfolds and see all the great stuff that is going to be up for grabs. Until next time Scott

Sufjan NPR exclusive and more tour dates

Reported by yewknee

The latest from Sufjan Stevens, Illinoise, is pretty amazing. But who would complain about another track being offered for free from NPR starting July 6th? Who then would complain more after that once they heard that more tour dates had been announced from previous postings? No one we would be friends with, that's who.
