Forget Cassettes are not forgotten

Despite the previous impression that Forget Cassettes had parted ways, we are pleased to announce that mastermind Beth Cameron has unveiled a new lineup for the band. They plan to start playing out live again and will record the followup to Instruments of Action later this summer / early fall.

Condolences to the Mahaffey family

In some shocking and ridiculously sad news, it has been announced that Self guitarist and all around amazing guy Mike Mahaffey passed away in his sleep yesterday. Aside from being all smiles all the time, Mike brought some wonderful sound to our ears on every Self album. He will be missed and we send our sincerest condolences to all of his friends, family, and anyone who had the chance to encounter him.

Could it be true? Rumors are swirling that The Stone Roses might just reform to fill the headlining slot on the final evening of Glastonbury, left vacant by Kylie Minogue (who is recovering from surgery for breast cancer). I'll believe it when I see it, but oh be still my little heart!!

Grandaddy summer EP

While the next full-length is still being worked on, Grandaddy will be releasing an EP this summer of 6 or 7 tracks. The disc is said to contain at least one rather old song ("Florida"), as well as several b-sides from the forthcoming full-length. Songs "Campershell Dreams", "Disconnecty","Where I'm Anymore", and "Jeez Louise" are among the bunch recently mixed by Dave Trumfio. More details as we get them..

Mark Robinson

Five years ago when I started this site, I never thought I would have to post something like this, but now I do. One of our past staff members, Mark Robinson, passed away this past weekend. Mark suffered from cystic fibrosis his whole life and sadly that most likely lead to his death at only 26. You can read the obituary here and our hearts go out to Mark's friends and family. Truly a great loss to the world.

Chris Cunningham readies short film

Director Chris Cunningham will release a short film entitled "Rubber Johnny" sometime in July via Warp Records. The soundtrack to the short is the Aphex Twin song "Afx. 237 v.7" and from the looks of the official site the film will be as disturbing as you'd hope to expect from Mr. Cunningham.
