Mike McCready revealed to MTV that Pearl Jam whittled "17 to 20 ideas" down the 11 songs on their new album, Backspacer. The b-sides aren't banished to vault necessarily, as the band "may do something with [the extra tracks] in about six months." [www.mtv.com]

Teargarden by Kaleidyscope from Smashing Pumpkins

In a blog post, Billy Corgan revealed recording for the new Smashing Pumpkins album, titled Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, began on September 15th. Moreover, Corgan reported the album will contain 44 songs and be given away digitally a song at a time. Eleven "highly limited edition EP's" will be created grouping four songs at a time. Autolux Eyeing January 2010 for Transit Transit

In April of last year, we mentioned the new Autolux album, Transit Transit, was finished and on its way. Well, more than a year later and we're still waiting. In the latest issue of Wired, the band projected a January 2010 release. However, with no definite label attached, I'd take that timeframe with a grain of salt. Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson

Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson will release Summer of Fear on October 20th via Saddle Creek. Kyp Malone as well as Grizzly Bear's Christopher Bear and Chris Taylor lent performances to the record. Robinson will play handful of shows with Bob Mould in October. [www.myspace.com]

DM Stith Readies Second, Third EP

Following July's BMB, DM Stith will release the second in a trio of EPs, Thanksgiving Moon, on November 3rd. On December 8th, Braid of Voices will complete the cycle. All of said EPs feature tracks, b-sides and remixes from Stith's amazing debut, Heavy Ghost. [asthmatickitty.com]
