The Apocalypse Inside Of An Orange will be the next solo release from Mars Volta guitarist Omar Rodriguez Lopez. The exclusive double-vinyl album will be put out under the name Omar Rodriguez Lopez Quintet on November 20th. The album is a continuation of the music recorded during his time in Amsterdam during 2005 that created his previous release.

Preparations Details, Microsite

Prefuse 73 will release Preparations to US stores tomorrow. Warp Records has launched a microsite to showcase the album, Heron's US tour dates and an 11-minute mix of unreleased Prefuse material. As reported, the retail version will be backed with Interregnums, a 15-track bonus album.

Eels set to release incredibly thorough compilations

Typically a "Best Of" or "Rarities" collection from a band is just another way for a band to fulfill a contractual obligation but in the case of the forthcoming Eels compilations the band is going to great lengths to take care of their fans. They are gearing up to release Meet The EELS: Essential EELS Vol. 1 (CD+DVD) and EELS Useless Trinkets (2CD+DVD) on January 15th, 2008. Chris Walla working on solo record

You know that other guy from Death Cab for Cutie? Chris Walla? Well, he's readying his own solo album entitled Field Manual for release on January 29th via Barsuk. Currently US Customs has the hard drive containing the album in their possession (seriously) but confidence levels are high that the album will see the light of day on the planned date. Rivers Cuomo solo release on the way

While there is still no word on the upcoming album from Weezer it has been announced that frontman Rivers Cuomo will be releasing a collection of demos entitled Alone - The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo on December 11th of this year. The album will consist of home recordings from over the past 15 years.

Grand Palace Records will be releasing the next EP from Apollo Up! entitled Walking Papers, tentatively in the wintery months of the year. While this is celebratory news it is also unfortunate as it is rumored to be the final release from the band.

The band has also announced that Jay Phillips (Apollo Up, ex-Forget Cassettes) will now be in charge of the low notes for the band.

Far-Less Kickoff Toast Tour

Far-Less will kickoff a tour tomorrow in Baton Rouge in support of their new album, A Toast To Bad Taste. The record is in stores October 23rd, but the band have posted many of the tracks on MySpace. In November, the band will catch up with He Is Legend for another mini-tour.

OurStage Starts Awarding Bands

OurStage, one of the new online ranking sites where bands can upload their music, has recently begun awarding the top 10-ranking OurStage artists. Some of the artists get one-on-one sessions with John Legend while G. Love will invite one top-ranking artist to open at three fall G. Love and Special Sauce shows. The site also just awarded 7 of their high-ranking artist with performance slots at this year’s CMJ music marathon. The schedule for those bands is below:
