Mates of State are currently traveling to various studios working on new material with the likes of Chris Walla, Jim Eno, Peter Katis, and Bill Racine. Inspired by their recent stint on the This American Life tour, the Mates have scheduled one rock and three acoustic show (think baby grand piano) in October to showcase the new material.

Two of the original members of Faraquet, Chad Molter and Devin Ocampo, will reunite for a Brazilian tour this September. In the meantime, the guys are compiling recordings of their singles for a compilation CD. Following the release of said CD, Molter and Ocampo will rejoin bassist Jeff Boswell for some DC area shows. Keep your eyes peeled to Dischord for confirmed dates. In related news, Medications is also working on a new album.

Band of Horses will return with Cease To Begin on October 9th via Sub Pop. The Horses are also heading out on tour starting Wednesday with Love as Laughter in tow.
After releasing Before the Dawn Heals Us, M83 (aka Anthony Gonzalez) decided to record an album of ambient works with producer Antoine Gaillet. The resulting album, Digital Shades Vol. 1, will be digitally released on September 4th and is the first in an ongoing series. Pinback has announced a slew of US tour dates as well as the details of a bonus EP to be packaged with the the release of Autumn of the Seraphs. Better act quick though, the pre-order copies including the EP are limited.
Sea Wolf has announced his full-length album, Leaves in the River, will be released September 25th via Dangerbird.This weekend Sea Wolf will kick-off a midwest tour with Silversun Pickups before heading out with Nada Surf in October.

Nada Surf will be hitting the road for their first US headlining tour since the spring of 2006. The band will be performing oldies as well as songs from their forthcoming fifth LP (to be released in early '08). Sea Wolf is set to open on all dates.
The Whigs have entered Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles to begin work on their new album. The album is being produced by Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliot Smith, Guided By Voices) and will probably not see the light of day until early 2008.

The Nobility (formerly Jetpack UK) will release The Mezzanine next Tuesday, July 31st. The new album is pop rock spiced with "orchestrations featuring tuba, sax, French horn, cello and other textures." For more information, check out The Nobility on Virb.
