Mates of State are currently traveling to various studios working on new material with the likes of Chris Walla, Jim Eno, Peter Katis, and Bill Racine. Inspired by their recent stint on the This American Life tour, the Mates have scheduled one rock and three acoustic show (think baby grand piano) in October to showcase the new material.

Trail of Dead gets new drummer

See if you can follow this one - ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead have announced that in order to fill the shoes of drummer Doni Schroeder, who departed to rejoin Forget Cassettes, they will be enlisting the duties of Aaron Ford, the ex-drummer of Forget Cassettes featured throughout their release Salt.

Faraquet Reunite For Shows and Singles Comp

Two of the original members of Faraquet, Chad Molter and Devin Ocampo, will reunite for a Brazilian tour this September. In the meantime, the guys are compiling recordings of their singles for a compilation CD. Following the release of said CD, Molter and Ocampo will rejoin bassist Jeff Boswell for some DC area shows. Keep your eyes peeled to Dischord for confirmed dates. In related news, Medications is also working on a new album.

Digital Shades Vol. 1 from M83

After releasing Before the Dawn Heals Us, M83 (aka Anthony Gonzalez) decided to record an album of ambient works with producer Antoine Gaillet. The resulting album, Digital Shades Vol. 1, will be digitally released on September 4th and is the first in an ongoing series. Gonzalez is currently in the studio prepping a full-length for January 2008. Listen to "Sister Part 2" from the album on Myspace.

The Whigs Enter Studio With Schnapf

The Whigs have entered Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles to begin work on their new album. The album is being produced by Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliot Smith, Guided By Voices) and will probably not see the light of day until early 2008.
