The Octopus Project just finished recording a new album at Seattle's Bear Creek Studio. The new record will feature 14 of the 16 tracks recorded in the session, including “An Evening with Rththa,” “Moon Boil,” “Queen” and “Truck.” The band leaves tomorrow to play a couple of dates at the Spring Scream Festival in Kenting, Taiwan, and the yet-untitled album is slated for release in late Summer or early Fall of this year.
In June, Tapes 'N Tapes will return to the studio in hopes to record and release a follow-up to The Loon this Fall. Fans can expect to preview that new material on the band's forthcoming tour.

Following the US release of their Nite Versions record Soulwax will return to the US this April, including a final date at Coachella. The entire tour is called Radio Soulwax and each date is curated by the Dewaele brothers. Each night you will see Soulwax perform their Nite Versions record live, followed by a 2ManyDJs DJ set.
Hot Hot Heat have posted the song "Give Up" from their forthcoming album, Happiness Ltd., on MySpace. As the band says, "it's not a single or anything, but a suiting ambassador."
Beginning on May 11th, Deftones will head out on a nationwide summer tour with Dir En Grey and The Fall of Troy. Dates have been announced through June, but the tour should run through the middle of July.
Spoon has confirmed the release date and track listing of its as yet untitled (tentatively It's Frightening or Trouble Minx) sixth full-length studio album. The record will be released July 10th on Merge. The new record will be preceded by a series of East Coast shows in April and appearances at the Sasquatch and Bonnaroo festivals. A full US tour will follow in the Fall.

In addition to their upcoming tour The Books will also be releasing a DVD of video similar to the backdrop of their current live show - seemingly unrelated images put to their music. The disc will also feature two new songs. Currently it is only available at shows but should be up on their website soon enough.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Air Force 1's, Nike has called upon Kanye West, Nas, KRS-One and Rakim to record the track, "Better Than I've Ever Been." The original track is produced by Rick Rubin and a remix by DJ Premier is also available over in the Downloads.

As reported, Chris Cornell was in the studio with Steve Lillywhite late last year working a solo record. Carry On, Cornell's 13th career album, will drop on June 5th through Suretone. You can currently hear "No Such Thing" from the album on MySpace. With Cornell's departure from Audioslave, he'll have plenty of time to promote the album.
Xiu Xiu will shortly set out on a long US tour in support of last fall's The Air Force, released through 5RC.
Planet of Ice is the forthcoming full-length from Minus the Bear; though it won't be until August that the band drops the album on the world, the Seattle-ites will be headlining a tour with Suicide Squeeze labelmates Chin Up Chin Up as well as The Honorary Title starting in a month's time.

Camera Records will release the latest record from The Mother Hips on April 3rd. Kiss the Crystal Flake is the band's follow-up to 2001's Green Hills of the Earth and 2005's Red Tandy EP. Actor Jason Schwartzman (ex-Phantom Planet you know) has released an album of songs under the name Coconut Records entitled Nighttiming. The album is already available on iTunes, previewable on myspace and in stores this summer. The disc also features appearances by Zooey Deschanel and Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger.
