Smashing Pumpkins ready new release

I never thought I'd say it but Smashing Pumpkins will be releasing a new album this summer, their first since 2000. Zeitgeist will be released on July 7th, 2007 (07/07/07 - a Saturday) via Reprise. The band is slated to play several big festivals this summer but only one in all of North America.

Wax On Radio Tours Even More

Fresh off a lengthy opening stint for The Ataris and Asobi Seksu, Chicago's Wax On Radio are spending today resting (presumably) and then embarking on yet another tour. The band also recently posted some video footage which can be viewed here.

Bjork Announces Volta Tour

Bjork has announced the first dates of her world tour in support of the upcoming album, Volta, due May 8th. Following an appearance at Coachella on April 27th, the tour consists of seven North American dates throughout May. The Icelandic goddess also recently gave Volta-related interviews to MTV.com and Pitchfork.

Athenians Casper & the Cookies are still on the road with The Apples in Stereo, though somehow some dates slipped past us when we initially posted about the tour. The quartet has announced a handful of additional dates in support of last year's The Optimist's Club, some with The Icicles and others where they'll go it alone.

Get Him, Eat Him put Arms Down out

Absolutely Kosher will be delighted to release the next Get Him, Eat Him album, Arms Down, on June 5th. Catbirdseat informs us that the likes of Charles Bissell of the Wrens and Zach Condon of Beirut will make appearances on the album.

Stereophonics Rewind DVD

Stereophonics will release Rewind, a film chronicling the first 10 years of the band, on DVD on April 2nd (UK). The 2-disc set includes a 100-minute documentary, 2 1/2 hours of live performances, rare videos and an exclusive preview on their upcoming album. No US release in sight, so get in on the import. Mary Timony will be releasing The Shapes We Make on May 8th, 2007 via Kill Rock Stars. There aren't many details beyond that with the exception that she will be shooting a video for one of the songs with art collective Papparad.

Harmonium Assembled By Glös

Lovitt Records will release Harmonium, the debut album from Glös, on March 27th. Glös features Keeley Davis (Engine Down, Denali, Sparta), Cornbread Compton (Engine Down, Heavens) and Maura Davis (Denali, Ambulette). Facilitated solely through passing files between laptops, the members have never physically played the songs together. Listen to "Entre" and "Unharmed" on MySpace.

The Shepherd's Dog From Iron & Wine

Sam Beam will bring back Iron & Wine in late September with a new full-length, The Shepherd's Dog. The 12-track album will be preceded by the single "Boy With a Coin." Tour dates and firm release date in the works, tracklist after the jump. In related news, WUWM recently presented an Iron & Wine show at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee, WI and they've posted photos and video.
