The Avett Brothers introduce Emotionalism

The Avett Brothers will release Emotionalism, the proper follow-up to last year's Four Thieves Gone, on May 15th through Ramseur Records. To tide fans over, the trio has posted "Will You Return?" for download on MySpace. Look for the album tracklist and the Avett's perpetual touring schedule (including a stop at Coachella) after the jump.

The Walkmen Still Touring

The Walkmen are still out and about, supporting A Hundred Miles Off and their Nilsson tribute, Pussycats. They have dates lined up until the end of April, with a bunch of shows supporting Kaiser Chiefs.

The Nightwatchman One Man Revolution

Tom Morello will release his solo debut, under the unintentionally comedic moniker The Nightwatchman, on April 24th. The album, One Man Revolution, features 13-tracks of acoustic folk produced by Brendan O'Brien. Listen to "Until The End" over on MySpace. Morello is also putting together a tour for the album, but some dates have been announced already (in between Rage Against The Machine dates, of course).

The Ch-Ch-Cha-Riot

The Chariot will return with The Fiance on April 3rd. Screaming and brutality abounds, but it's tad more accesible than their debut. The Chariot will also hit the road with Norma Jean (vocalist Josh Scogin's former band) in March/April. Stream "They Faced Each Other" from the album on Purevolume.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of The Mars Volta and At the Drive-In will release a handful of solo projects in 2007, the first of these being Se Dice Bisonte, No Bufalo, which will be released in May. Recorded in 2005 in Amsterdam and California, the full-length album features performances by Volta members Bixler-Zavala, Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez, Juan Alderete de la Pena, and Adrian Terrazas-Gonzales, as well as appearances by Money Mark, Ramos Nishita (Beastie Boys) and John Frusciante.

Mastodon, Cursive, Against Me! Tour

Mastodon has announced what will probably be the best tour all year. Throughout May, the band will team up with Cursive and Against Me! for a nationwide run. These Arms Are Snakes and Planes Mistaken For Stars will open the first and second legs of the tour, respectively. Pre-order your tickets now or wait for the general on-sale date, March 10th. Queens of the Stone Age have posted a new video on YouTube documenting the recording process of a song from the upcoming album, Era Vulgaris. The song titles "Turn On The Screw," "Battery Acid," "Head Into The Hollow," and "Misfit Love" were cryptically revealed in a recent email, as well.

Mystery Jets' ZooTime, US Shows

The UK's Mystery Jets will head to the United States later this spring to show off the tunes on ZooTime, which will be out through Dim Mak on May 5th. The young band has already been served such accolades as the approval of Johnny Marr, The Futureheads, and Bloc Party.

Autolux closer but not Closer

While there is no definitive title or release date it appears that Autolux has awakened from their slumber and are beginning to play shows again. Unfortunately the band has announced that the song they contributed to the Ian Curtis biopic "Closer" soundtrack has been put on hold indefinetly to ensure no conflict with the upcoming re-release of the remastered Joy Division catalog.

The new Apostle of Hustle record, National Anthem of Nowhere, hit stores today but the band plans to release a new maxi-single on April 10th featuring "My Sword Hands Anger" and a fan remix of the track currently previewable over on their site. Aside from that the band will be hitting the road with Andrew Bird, don't hesitate to see them.

The Books recently released a miniature-EP (literally) of sounds entitled Music for a French Elevator that they put together back in 2004. It's not an official album per se but it's enough to tide a hardcore fan over. The band has also announced that they'll be on tour through the month of April.

Dismemberment Plan reunite for special cause

It has been announced on their official site that The Dismemberment Plan will be reuniting for one night in April to play a show to raise money for Cal Robbins - the son of J. Robbins (Jawbox) and Janet Morgan. The money raised will go to the Robbins family to help them offset medical costs of their sons struggle with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). If you don't have tickets already, start scouring eBay because it sold out super quick.

Johnny Cash Sings the Gospel

Today sees the Columbia/Legacy release of Ultimate Gospel, a collection of traditional and spiritual songs performed by Johnny Cash. The compilation features recordings from as early as 1958 and as recent as 1981, with three previously unreleased songs thrown in there ("How Great Thou Art," "My Ship Will Sail" and "It Is No Secret (What God Can Do)").

Our Earthly Pleasures US Release Date

Despite our wishful thinking that the new Maximo Park album, Our Earthly Pleasures, would be released the day after the UK date, we'll all have to wait until May 8th (more than a month after the UK). At least, we'll get "Distance Makes" and "Pride Before a Fall" as bonus tracks.
