With Damon Albarn off doing who knows what, it's left the other Blur boys with some time on their hands. Thus, drummer Dave Rowntree has formed the The Ailerons and released a debut EP, titled The Left Right. You can currently preview the band's "shiny, noisy, smart pop music" on their Myspace page. The first single, "Dig A Hole," is also the "Song of the Week" on the UK iTunes store.

Asobi Seksu Inject Sunshine Into Bleary Winter

Shoegaze-pop extraordinaires Asobi Seksu have announced a winter tour in continuing support of Citrus (Friendly Fire Recordings). The band kicked off the tour today, and over its course, they'll be doing stints with Tokyo Police Club, Mates of State, and more.

Pogues Reissues

Rhino Records has reissued five records from the seminal Pogues--Rum, Sodomy & the Lash, If I Should Fall From Grace With God, Red Roses For Me, Hell's Ditch, and Peace and Love. Not all classic records, but definitely ones worth hearing. There's an e-card for all that here, and that listening party thing here. The Shins Wincing Tracklist

As you know, the third album from The Shins, Wincing the Night Away, is set for release via Sub Pop Records on January 23rd. The album was recorded in the summer of 2006 at Supernatural Sound in Oregon and produced by James Mercer and Joe Chiccarelli (Beck, U2). The tracklist is below and the first single from the album, "Phantom Limb," will be released as a digital single (with two b-sides) via iTunes on November 14th, as a CD on November 21st, and on 7" on December 12th.

Nike+ Collaborates with LCD Soundsystem?

Well, this is an interesting bit of news; Nike+ is partnering with LCD Soundsystem for an iTunes-exclusive release, which will be available tomorrow. Nike+ Original Run is the title for the disc, and was created with runners in mind. LCD's James Murphy seems excited about it; Ian Mackaye would not approve. But you can dig it here if you wish.

Red Hot Gnarls Barkley

Gnarls Barkley are set to head out on a three month arena tour of the U.S. with the Red Hot Chili Peppers beginning in early January of 2007. Additionally, a limited edition CD + DVD package of St. Elsewhere will be released November 7th and will include a 92-page booklet, four music videos and bonus songs from live performances.

Sean Lennon Hits the Road

Sean Lennon recently released his sophomore album Friendly Fire and will soon be hitting the road. US dates begin at the end of October and Sean will be supported at select shows by Mancunian troubadour Jim Noir, who released his debut album through Barsuk Records earlier this year.

Sweetheart is fifteen tracks of pure country (plus a Procol Harum cover), and it's not surprising that John Prine's Oh Boy label is where Reeder found his home. Goth Compilation Doesn't Include Coal Chamber

In the tradition of No Thanks! and Left of the Dial, Rhino Records has assembled four discs of so-called gothic music and videos, covering the '70s up through the '90s. Of course Joy Division, The Cure and Bauhaus make appearances, as well as Throbbing Gristle, the Misfits, and even AFI doing a Cure cover.
