Menomena Set Friend and Foe Date, Tour

Menomena have hit yet again with an barrage of news, so stay with us. First, the "Wet and Rusting" single is now available on the FILMguerrero website for purchase (and the song is available for preview on Myspace). Second, the official release date for the band's Barsuk debut, Friend and Foe, is now January 23rd, 2007. Thus, the trio have lined up some East Coast tour dates to preview said album.

A Deluxe War (with Mystics)

It's often hard to tell if a deluxe-reissue of an album is punishment for the hardcore fans or beneficial for those on the fence but either way, The Flaming Lips will be re-releasing At War With The Mystics in a super mega expanded edition featuring 15 new audio tracks and a DVD of the videos from the album. Look for it on October 24th.

Walkmen love Pussycats

As the doors closed on their studio The Walkmen decided it was high time for them to knock out that tribute to Harry Nilsson that they'd always wanted to do. The band will release a track-by-track interpretation of the 1974 classic Pussycats on October 24th. Coupled with the album will be a documentary DVD showcasing the original album vs. the new interpretation. Read more about the album here.

The Black Keys Concoct Magic Potion

The long-awaited follow-up to Rubber Factory from The Black Keys hit stores this week under the moniker Magic Potion. Their UK label, V2, have put together an ecard with a free download of the album track "Strange Desire." The duo is currently touring on the record and their Tour page has all the details.

Langhorne Slim - Friend's of Avetts

Langhorne Slim has signed to V2 Records and will release a new four-song EP on September 19th. Not one for laurel-resting, the Slim singer-songwriter will release a full-length of all new material next year, he just wrapped up recording the as-of-yet untitled album in Maine with Sam Kassirer (pianist for Josh Ritter). Lastly, Langhorne is finishing up a string of dates with the Violent Femmes, and will then support Saddle Creek's Two Gallants on a fall tour, dates below:

Peeping Who?

Proving that they are playing for keeps, Mike Patton's latest project, Peeping Tom, have announced that they will be going on tour with The Who. The tour kicks off September 12th and the current Peeping Tom live incarnation assembled by creator Mike Patton features famed beat boxer Rahzel, singer violinist Imani Coppola, and the members of Dub Trio, among others.

Deathcab Tour Plans

Death Cab for Cutie has unveiled details of their upcoming fall tour. Having spent much of the past two years on the road, the band is set to perform their third and final North American tour in support of their Grammy nominated album, Plans.Special guests include Ted Leo + Pharmacists, OK Go, and Jenny Lewis. Pre-sale tickets will be available starting Thursday, September 7 through the band's website.

Thrice Begin Work on 4-Disc Concept Album

Thrice have begun writing material for a 4-disc concept album to correspond to the four natural elements (earth, air, water and fire). The end result will contain 20-25 songs across the discs. With the band recording the effort themselves, they plan on setting up a website to chronicle the process. Read the full statement, after the jump.
