I hear through the grapevine that the new release from Favourite Sons via VICE is one of their best in awhile. You can judge for yourself by hitting our Downloads section and snagging "Hang On, Girl" and "No One Ever Dies Young." Look for the full-length, Down Beside Your Beauty, on September 12th.
Apparently Polyvinyl Records recording artists like to stick together (as well they should). Headlights will be hitting the road with labelmates Decibully August and September.

Finally, it looks as if the new album from The Cardigans, Super Extra Gravity, will hit the US on September 19th (deja vu, anyone?). We've been following this record since July of last year, so it's long overdue in our book. In related news, Pitchfork recently posted a short interview with Cardigans goddess Nina Persson.
Dredg have scheduled two shows in September at the The Catalyst Club in Santa Cruz, CA for a special purpose. On the 14th, they will perform their debut, Leitmotif, in its entirety as well as selections from Catch Without Arms. On the 15th, they will (you guessed it) perform El Cielo in its entirety with some Catch Without Arms thrown in. Their entire catalog in two days. You can order what's left of the tickets at catalystclub.com.
We knew Menomena were hard at work on a new album and now they've broken their silence. First, they officially signed on dotted line with Barsuk. Second, their new album will be titled Friend and Foe, but sadly won't be released until January 2007. In the meantime, they will release a single for "Wet and Rusting" through FILMguerrero in mid-September.
This is a lot of information in one news post, but it's all related, so bear with us. Mike Kinsella's group Make Believe have a new record out on Flameshovel on October 3rd; it's entitled Of Course. Meanwhile, brother Tim will issue another album under the Owen moniker; it's called At Home With and comes out from Polyvinyl Records on November 7th. The boys will coalesce in their band Joan of Arc for a short tour with Owen as support, and after that Make Believe hits the road alone.
Despite having been released in the UK over a year ago it appears that the Soulwax re-worked album Nite Versions will finally be available in North America on September 12th thanks to Modular People. Even greater news than that is that the band will be doing a bit of touring, an event not to be missed.
Los Angeles-based trio The Oohlas will release Best Stop Pop on September 26th through the Stolen Transmission label. The grungy popsters who comprise the group include Greg Eklund (formerly of Everclear), Matt Eklund (a bro, I'm assuming?) and vocalist Olivia Stone. There's a track for you in the downloads section.
Go stream the new Basement Jaxx album, Crazy Itch Radio, in its entirety on Myspace. The record hits stores on September 12th through XL.

Xiu Xiu have a lot going on, but we really only need to let you know about two pertinent matters: The Air Force and their upcoming tour. As you may remember, Xiu Xiu's fifth full-length, The Air Force, is due on September 12th. Well, Stewart, McElroy and newest member Ches Smith (Congs for Brums) will head out on tour to support the album from September 22nd through November 10th.
