The Streets Make Longest Video Ever

A couple months back, Mike Skinner of The Streets set out to make the longest video ever -- a record previously held by Michael Jackson's 13-minute "Thriller" video. The 20-minute video for "Deluded In My Mind" from The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living premiered on the MTV UK 25th Anniversary on August 1st. However, you can now watch the video in "The Shed" of the the-streets.co.uk (look for the TV).

He Is Legend Tour, Suck Out The Poison Tracklist

After dropping off the final stretch of the Warped Tour, He Is Legend is rested, refreshed and set to hit the road in October with Silverstein. They'll be holding down a support slot, but the tour will no doubt be filled with material from Suck Out The Poison, their third full-length set to drop the same month (October 3rd, to be exact). We stumbled across the tracklist in an interweb tube, too.

As promised, Lambchop are set to release their ninth full-length, Damaged, on August 22nd. According to Merge, the record "continues in the quiet and haunting tradition" of the outfit.

The Knife Announce Three US Shows

Silent Shout finally makes it stateside and now The Knife will grace the US with three appearances in November. New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles are it, but the NYC show is at least during CMJ. All the shows will feature multimedia performances with visuals by Andreas Nilsson.

Let's Build A Fire Release Date From +/-

As you know, +/- are set to drop their new album, Let's Build A Fire, in the US. We've now learned the album will hit stores on October 24th through Absolutely Kosher (meaning a departure from Teen Beat). It'll be the band's third, and if "Steal The Blueprints" (which you can get in the Downloads) is any indication of the album, it's a much poppier affair.

Ragged + Filter = Bands

Our friends at Filter Magazine and clothing brand American Rag Cie have partnered to announce the release of a mini magazine called Ragged. This mini magazine features stories on indie rock and alternative music from artists including Phantom Planet, Morningwood, Nina Gordon, Silversun Pickups, The Vacation, Annie Stela, Bittter:Sweet, and Greg Laswell. Ragged is distributed for free at Macy’s stores nationwide as well as at concerts and festivals throughout the summer. The issue is also available to download on www.RaggedMag.com.

Chris Cornell Solo

Chris Cornell has announced that he is working with Grammy Award-winning British super-producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, Talking Heads) on an upcoming solo album. Recording will begin in September and the album is set for an early 2007 release on Interscope Records. In addition, Cornell recently co-wrote the theme for the upcoming Bond installment Casino Royale and will perform the song for the movie.

We Died: They Remixed will be exclusively sold at shows, and feautures Hot Chip, Safety Scissors, Squeak E Clean and a handful of other production wizards, while a good portion of the tour dates will see Clap Your Hands Say Yeah as the headlining act.

We, the Vehicles Tour

Maritime has announced a US tour in further support of their new album, We, the Vehicles. The tour of the same name will begin on September 8th in Madison, WI, but will stay mostly in the Mid-West and West Coast. South and Southeast dates have been promised for December. Also, make sure you check out the Maritime Daytrotter sessions posted early last month for four free live versions of songs from We, the Vehicles.

Modest Mouse, meet Johnny Marr

It was a fairly well known fact that Modest Mouse were working with ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr on their next record but it has been officially announced that Marr is now a member of the band. Isaac Brock and crew got along so well with Marr that he has been fully welcomed into the Modest Mouse fold - including touring duties. Look for upcoming dates in support of the forthcoming We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank album featuring Marr.

A single stroke

You may have to import it, but Albert Hammond Jr, the guitarist for The Strokes, will be releasing his first solo outing on Rough Trade this October 9th in the UK. The solo record, Yours To Keep will feature lead vocals by Hammond but also serves a launching ground for collaborations with Sean Lennon, Ben Kweller, and even Julian Casablancas.

Maximo Park return to studio

It's not a lot to go on but it appears that Maximo Park have returned to the studio to record the follow-up to their highly underrated debut, A Certain Trigger. The band will be working with Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, The Pixies) as producer.

RIP Arthur Lee

I'm sorry to say that Arthur Lee passed away this past Thursday at his home in Memphis. The core of '60s psychedelic rock band Love, Lee penned some of the most underrated tunes of his era, with the record Forever Changes revered by rock critics as one of the greatest (though relatively unknown to the average person) albums of all time. At the age of 61, Lee succumbed to leukemia.

The Kasabian Empire

Kasabian will release their sophomore effort, entitled Empire, on September 19th. Last month, the group parted ways with lead guitarist/keyboardist Chris Karloff before releasing the album's title track as the first single. You can stream "Empire" in the Downloads.

Deadsy brings the Razor Love!

Despite every bone in my body knowing that Deadsy shouldn't be at the top of my list of guilty pleasures, it is. That being said, their sophomore album Phantasmagore is set for an Elementree / Immortal release on August 22nd.
