In continuing support of their Ten Silver Drops album, The Secret Machines will be going on tour... and playing in the round. The band plans to play some non-traditional venues that will put them smack in the middle of the audience. Wether this means you'll be stuck looking at the back of the drummer all night or if the stage will also be rotating has yet to be seen. Regardless, it will be something not to be missed.

DFA 1979 calls it a day

According to a post on their official site Death From Above 1979 has decided to call it a day. The post from member Jesse Keller explains that the duo have grown apart and decided to focus on new projects, including MSTRKRFT. Go listen to "Romantic Rights" as a fitting tribute.

Canadian Supergroup Readies Debut

Swan Lake culls its members from a trifecta of Canada's premier indie acts; Dan Bejar (the voice of Destroyer and a New Pornographers collaborator), Spencer Krug (of Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown fame), and Carey Mercer (Frog Eyes). November 11 will see the release of the group's debut on Jagjaguwar. Entitled Beast Moans, the record is a self-produced effort, and brings together three exceptional songwriters. Discover & Download Live

MTV2's Discover & Download show is rolling out with a special live version of the show this Saturday, August 5th at 8pm on MTV2. The following artists will be performing their singles live on the show: "Honesty" from Cartel, "Graduation Day" from Head Automatica, "Kick Push" from Lupe Fiasco, and "Face Down" from Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. Immediately following the show, you can go to here to download the songs that were featured along with additional live tracks that were performed during their set.

G. Love's Cold Beverage Of Choice

As you may remember, G. Love was hard at work last year completing his follow-up to The Hustle. Yesterday, Mr. G. Dutton released Lemonade, his new album of "straight hip-hop grooves" featuring appearances from Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Marc Broussard and Blackalicious, among others. You can preview four songs from the album, including the first single "Hot Cookin'," on MySpace.

More Aloha Dates, New 7

Aloha have added more tour dates to get the word out on Some Echoes, released back in the spring. Shortly thereafter, the group will retreat to the studio to work on a couple new tracks for an upcoming 7", which will be out on Polyvinyl Records later this year. In related news, Aloha drummer Cale Parks is putting out a solo album entitled Illuminated Manuscript on Sept. 26.

Oppenheimer in USA

Irish electro-pop duo Oppenheimer is doing a tour of the United States for the first time. Last I checked, they needed some floors to crash on between dates (so if you're a hospitable soul, you might check into that). The band is supporting their recently released Bar-None effort, and the trip will include a a couple one-offs with Hot Chip and The Like Young.

Army Of Anyone, the new band featuring Richard Patrick from Filter, Dean and Robert DeLeo from Stone Temple Pilots fame and drummer Ray Luzier of David Lee Roth's band, are premiering their new single "Goodbye" today on AOL Music. You can stream "Goodbye" in its entirety and find out more about the project here. Army Of Anyone teamed with famed producer Bob Ezrin on their debut album, due out later this year on the new label started by The Firm management company.

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy The Letting Go

September 19th is the day Bonnie 'Prince' Billy will grace America with The Letting Go, Oldham's follow-up to 2003's Master And Everyone. To promote the upcoming release, Oldham and crew will set out in August on string of free in-store shows, with a full Fall tour in the beginning stages. For now, you can watch the video for "Cursed Sleep" and part one of a three-part commercial for The Letting Go over at Drag City.

Adult Swim, Stones Throw Conceive Chrome Children

As we mentioned a few months back, Adult Swim had teamed with Stones Throw on a collab album. The result of the partnership will be Chrome Children, a CD/DVD release that will stores on October 3rd. The CD features music from pretty much every artist on the Stones Throw roster, while the DVD compiles a full-length show headlined by MF DOOM and Madlib. You can currently check out the album page on Stones Throw and download the "Chrome Mix" from Peanut Butter Wolf, which features many of the songs from the album.

Thermals Return With The Body, The Blood, The Machine

The Thermals are set to release The Body, The Blood, The Machine on August 22nd through Sub Pop. The album was recored by Brendan Canty (Fugazi) at Supernatural Sound Studios in Oregon City, OR. The Good, The Bad and the Queen

Rumor has it that a concept album about life in London entitled The Good, The Bad and the Queen will be released sometime in the early new year. What makes the rumor interesting is that the songs were written as a collaboration between The Clash bassist Paul Simonon and Blur frontman Damon Albarn. Guitarist Simon Tong (The Verve) and drummer Tony Allen round out the group. Details as they emerge.

Tortoise fills in all the gaps

Tortoise will release a 4-disc set of hard to find tracks entitled Lazarus Taxon on August 22nd. The 3-CD, 1-DVD package will compile a majority (if not all) of the earlier hard-to-find material from the post-rock outfit.

Beck trickling new songs to the public

There is a new Beck album coming out in the forthcoming months that was produced by Nigel Godrich and supposedly features a bit more of a hip-hop flavor. The track "Cell Phone's Dead" was featured on beck.com for a day, but has since been removed. Now he's letting people hear "Think I'm In Love" over on his myspace page, and even made a low-budget video for it. Not sure where the heavy amounts of hip-hop here are but the song is a great teaser for the album.

Adem Longs For Love And Other Planets

London singer/songwriter Adem (aka Adem Ilhan of Fridge) will release his sophmore effort, Love And Other Planets, on August 22nd through Domino. The albums see Ilhan taking the "rule-book of contemporary folk... and systematically pulling it apart page by page." You can preview the track "Launch Yourself" in the Downloads.
