I just saw these guys last month, but the Akron/Family will be extending its current tour for an extra month and a half. The weirdo folksters put on one of the best live sets I've witnessed, so don't pass them up if they're headed your way...

Sparta Grabs Keeley

We mentioned what Sparta was up to earlier, but it is now official that Keeley Davis formerly of Engine Down/Denali has joined the band as their guitarist. The band is currently in pre-production and will begin recording in Los Angeles in March. While in the studio, the band will produce a series of video podcasts, the first of which is available now and will be updated on the bands website.

The Last Arab Strap

Hot off the heels of some pre-release publicity and landing at #6 on the CMJ College Chart, the Scottish rock duo Arab Strap return with The Last Romance, due out February 21st. The North American version of The Last Romance contains bonus tracks, and the first video for "Dream Sequence" will debut in January 2006. A full tour kicks off March 18, 2006 at SXSW.

Get Your Ben On

Ben Folds will be heading out on the road this March (dates below). Also, don't forget about the Live in Perth DVD. The DVD features Ben performing with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in front of sell-out crowds at Kings Park in Perth, Australia. Ben, his piano and the 83 piece symphony recorded the album during a two-night-stand in March of 2005.

Talkings Heads Are Back

Rhino is reissuing all eight Talking Heads studio albums in dual-disc format. The original album tracks in remastered stereo, plus rare bonus songs, will be found on the CD side, while the DVD side will contain the original album mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound, in addition to videos, lyrics and photos. Be sure and check out this Listening Party Sampler with 16 full songs from the reissues in Windows Media and Real Media.

The full-length will be preceeded by a single for "The Catch," featuring two b-sides that should be available May 2nd. Raconteurs gather Broken Boy Soldiers

No solid details beyond the title but The Raconteurs (collaborative project between Jack White and Brendan Benson) full-length will be entitled Broken Boy Soldiers and is set for a May release.
