Lookout! bands jumping ship

Reported by david

There's no certainty as to whether or not last year's royalties troubles are the cause for Lookout! Records' loss of both Ted Leo and Mary Timony virtually simultaneously, but that should pan out soon enough. Leo has joined the lovely roster over at Touch & Go; Timony makes a fine new addition to the Kill Rock Stars label.

One Tree Hill comp, cancer benefit

Reported by david

I can't say whether or not One Tree Hill is worth a damn, because I try to avoid television, but the show does have a soundtrack on the way, and some of the proceeds will go to a cancer benefit. Artists include Nada Surf, The Shout Out Louds, Audioslave, and so on. There's a media player here, and then the full tracklisting...

Bob Pollard tour dates

Reported by david

To support the release of From a Compound Eye (Merge), Bob Pollard will do a few dates here and there over the next couple of months. It's not a lot, but you have to remember that after this long in the game, he's gotta be both physically and mentally exhausted, but some is better than none.

Who needs a full-length? Not Bishop Allen

Bishop Allen did that whole "release a full length" record thing when they put out Charm School and have now decided that it could be in their best interest to release an EP or two. Or twelve. The band plans to release one EP for every month this year. Quantities will be limited to 1,000 per EP and you can only buy them directly from the band. Download the track "Corazon" from the January EP over in the downloads section.

The Cloud Room plays some shows

Reported by yewknee

For a hot minute everyone thought The Cloud Room was going to bust out into every stereo across the country. The fact that it didn't happen is a damn shame seeing that "Hey Now Now" is basically exactly what you need in a great pop-rock song without being completely boring. That being said, check out their site, watch their videos, and catch them on tour.
