The premiere screening of Who Knows?, the Live In Concert film from Andrew WK will take place on Feb. 3rd and 4th in Manhattan. Aside from seeing live shows spanning from 2000 - 2004, attendee's will also be treated to a solo keyboard performance from Andrew WK as well as sent home with a giant Who Knows? movie poster.

New Band Alert: Mellowdrone

Red Ink has announced the March 7th release of Mellowdrone's debut album, Box. Produced by Tony Berg (Beck, X) and led by singer, guitarist and chief songwriter Jonathan Bates, "Box shifts effortlessly from moody space-pop to razor-sharp synth-pop pulsating with dance beats to brooding new wave imbued with slyly infectious melodies." Another words, we have heard it and it is really good. Mellowdrone will preview Box on the road this winter. Dates to be announced soon.

Vice Brings it With Justice

BSP get the Brakes put on

Whenever you get a side project going there is always the threat of losing focus on the main project. Such is the case with British Sea Power and the side band The Brakes. BSP keyboardist Eamon Hamilton has parted ways with the band to pursue The Brakes full time.

Velvet Underground on DVD

Velvet Underground are set to release their 1st-ever DVD, Velvet Redux: Live MCMXCIII on January 24th. Filmed live at the Paris Olympia on June 15, 16, and 17, 1993, the DVD captures the original line-up- Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison, and Moe Tucker - on extended versions of VU classics like "Femme Fatale," "Pale Blue Eyes," and "Heroin," and on more obscure fare like "Hey Mr. Rain" and "I'm Sticking With You", and there's even a new song, "Coyote." The DVD also features digitally re-mastered audio.

Plus-44

With blink-182 on indefinite hiatus and Tom DeLonge off over-hyping Angels and Airwaves, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker have started Plus-44 with LA-musician Carol Heller. Barker has compared the new material to Berlin and Missing Persons, but you can listen to "No It Isn't" over at the band's website and decide for yourself. The band expect to release the debut full-length this summer.

The long-awaited Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and Tortoise collabo, The Brave and The Bold (Justice League relation minimal), will see a US release from Overcoat Records on January 24th. As previously reported, the album features 10 covers, including "Thunder Road" by Bruce Springsteen, "Daniel" by Elton John and "That’s Pep" by Devo.
