You'd think Tegan & Sara would be tired of being on the road by now but judging from the fact that they're about to go hit up Japan and then take a spot on the Unlimited Sunshine tour, they're probably not doing so bad.
J Mascis (of Dinosaur Jr) will be releasing an EP with his new stoner rock outfit, Witch. The 6-track disc will be available on March 7, 2006. Find out more about the band and hear some song samples right here.
In addition to the previously posted title track, Far-Less have posted a second track, "Dialogue Supervisor," from their forthcoming full-length, Everyone Is Out To Get Us (preview 'em over at Purevolume or MySpace). The guys are out on tour throughout December giving audiences a preview of the new material, which is due on February 7th via Tooth & Nail.
The latest release from dynamic duo Quasi will be entitled When The Going Gets Dark and should hit shelves in March of 2006. The disc was mixed by Dave Friddman so, at the very least, it's going to have a fantastic sonic sound.
We heard a dirty little rumor that the next album from The Secret Machines will be released on April 18th. There's no confirmed tracklist yet, but the tentative title is Ten Silver Drops we'd be willing to bet it's another epic opus.
It's pretty safe to say that the upcoming 5RC release from The Advantage appeals to a niche audience. That niche being people in their 20's who grew up on NES games and would love to hear popular songs reproduced with live instrumentation. Even better, you can catch them on tour this coming January.
The new Black Rebel Motorcycle Club album, Howl, deserves a fair shake despite it sounding very little like the bands previous two releases. The best way to show support for said album is to hit the road and BRMC would never hit the road unless they plan to extensively hit the road. Check the more for the second leg of their Howl tour.
Snag a new Dredg b-side entitled "Stone By Stone" over at their Purevolume page.
We'd already told you that Barsuk Records had signed Rocky Votolato and we all know that they put out that fantastic Nada Surf album earlier this year, so how could they top that? The label has reportedly signed Mates of State and The Starlight Mints and Viva Voce! This is good news indeed.. more details on each release as we get them.
Mark March 21st, 2006 as the tenative release for the forthcoming Mates of State release Bring It Back on Barsuk Records. The 10-track disc will be their debut on Barsuk and is likely to feature layered harmonies, poppy keyboards, and good times galore.
Have you heard The Subways? Maybe not. But if you've picked up the latest soundtrack from The OC then you may have heard "Rock & Roll Queen." Just to make sure you're not missing out completely, you can download the track here or even watch the video with Windows Media or Quicktime.
We've been telling you about the latest from The Darkness, One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back that hit stores this week but if you're still tenative about the whole thing you can check it out with this ecard.
We told you about a forthcoming Denali DVD entitled Pinnacle that was supposed to come out sometime in 2005 but now we're hearing that it will officially hit store shelves at the end of January, early February. The disc features over 85 minutes of footage - including 44 minutes of live music - tons of photos, 2 home movies, and a hidden Easter egg (which is not so hidden now that you know it's there). Preview the DVD over at Lovitt Records.
If you release an album entitled Album of the Year, as The Good Life did, you better be willing to tour on it for quite some time. Turns out the band is more than willing. They have announced even more shows throughout the month of December, so catch them while you can - as they won't be touring for some time afterwards.
Typically the Christmas season is a fairly slow time for the record industry but that's not stopping Saddle Creek from releasing a new 7-inch from Two Gallants on December 6th. The wax will feature the song "Las Cruces Jail" and an exclusive b-side as a teaser for the forthcoming February 28th full-length release what the toll tells.
When you find yourself returning that Kelly Clarkson CD to Best Buy after Christmas you may want to trade it in for the forthcoming Sevendust compilation entitled Best Of (Chapter One 1997-2004). The disc features, you guessed it, all the fan favorites as well as a previously unreleased b-side, "School's Out." Look for it on December 27th.
If you find yourself unable to connect with your little niece, nephew, son, daughter, or other associated youngling you may want to remember to pick up See You on the Moon!: Songs for Kids of All Ages by PaperBag Records in February of next year. The compilation features original songs (for kids of all ages) by the likes of Apostle of Hustle, Broken Social Scene, Sufjan Stevens, Kid Koala, Hot Chip, Junior Boys and more. Actually, the BSS song is a cover ("Puff the Magic Dragon") as well as the Sufjan track ("The Friendly Beasts" - a Christian song of some sort). The lesson here is to teach the youth of the world early not to succumb to anything less than total indie rock submersion.
Before the retrospective set is even ready for release John Chapple, of the now defunct Mclusky, will release an EP from his new band Shooting at Unarmed Men on December 6th.
In continuing support of their release Geography Cones, Get Him, Eat Him are playing out live (as is typically the case). So, check the schedule, mark the dates, and catch them live.
