Run-DMC is Back!! Sorta

Run-DMC will see the re-release of their first 4 albums as newly remastered and expanded editions with multiple bonus tracks – a total of 17 tracks between them, including demos, live performances, single B sides, and remixes. Arriving in stores September 6th, are deluxe digipaks of Run-D.M.C. (1984), the 20th anniversary special edition of King of Rock (1985), Raising Hell (1986), and Tougher Than Leather (1988). On November 1st the new b-sides and rarities compilation Sliver - The Best of The Box will be released featuring three new, supposed, unheard songs that were not included in the definitive boxset.

John Peel Day details

As a celebration of the life of legendary John Peel, it has been declared that the official John Peel Day will be October 13th and will be celebrated at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall featuring the likes of New Order, Super Furry Animals, The Fall and several others all to be broadcast live in BBC Radio 1.

Grandaddy are Just Like The Fambly Cat

The upcoming release from Grandaddy is just an EP to tide you over to the next full-length release, which we've now been told is entitled Just Like The Fambly Cat. Frontman Jason Lytle says the songs are "about the thoughtlessness and mindlessness of sprawl" and to expect something "really big and luscious and gooey."

Kasabian readies DVD release

While it might take a minute for it to show up in the US, Kasabian will be releasing a live DVD entitled Live From Brixton Academy. Aside from the concert footage the disc will also include a documentary entitled Expanding the Empire that covers the bands debut release, touring Japan, and other random shenanigans.

Seems like Veruca Salt is going to release another disc next year, or at least the version of Veruca Salt that consists of Louise Post (Nina Gordon won't be present). If you can't wait until next year, head over to the band's website and get their self-titled, re-released debut Lords of Sounds and Lesser Things.

He's done it before, and he's doing it again. Tom Waits is suing General Motors (and the McCann Erickson ad agency) for using a song in their car ads that is obviously a dead on impersonation of his work.
