The Brakes album we told you about (featuring members of British Sea Power and Electric Soft Parade) is coming to the US on September 13th.
Remember the I Am Sam soundtrack that was all covers of random Beatles songs by contemporary and sometimes hip artists? What if you took that concept, threw in some more indie artists, and covered the entire Rubber Soul album from start to finish? You'd have This Bird Has Flown - A 40th Anniversary Tribute to the Beatles' Rubber Soul featuring the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Fiery Furnaces, Ben Lee, Ben Kweller, Ted Leo and a bunch of others. Look for it on October 25th.
If you haven't heard Four Tet, now is your chance. Check the more for one of the most massive tour schedules we may have ever posted. Insane.
Local H will be releasing Local H Comes Alive sometime in the Fall of 2005. We've got the tenative tracklisting and have been informed that the last track, "Toxic", is the studio version of the band covering the Britney Spears song of the same name.
You know where they are touring, you know album details, but what does Institute sound like? Remember this is Gavin Rossdale's new outfit so you've probably already got an idea of what to expect but now you can confirm those suspicions with this handy dandy audio player found here.
While there is no real solid news about the impending Sparklehorse album it can be confirmed that Mark Linkous is working with the likes of DJ Dangermouse, Stephen Drozo, Dave Friddmann and several others (according to his newly revamped website). It's a strange collaboration of people but could yield some great results.
Apparently Ryan Dunn (that would be the same Ryan Dunn seen as the right-hand man to Bam Margera on MTV and old CKY skate videos) is going on tour with Don Vito, Open Hand, Fight Paris, and Disengage. Expect Don Vito to get smacked around a bit and then Open Hand will bring some big riffed rock. For more on this strange expedition go here.
Check out the new Supergrass mini-site for their forthcoming September 27th release, Road to Rouen right here. Oh, and while you're watching the video for "St. Petersburg" disregard that August 15th release date - that's just for the rest of the world, not North America.
Hey guess what? Ted Leo is on tour. Crazy right? No, not really. He's on the road more than almost any other indie rock band. It's true.
We told you about the forthcoming Wolf Parade album and now we're going to tell you about their tour dates. They have them, find them in the more. Easy as that.
We were under the impression that the last Q and not U show would be the 18th of July but what kind of departure would it be if they didn't have some farewell shows? Check the more for the final Q and not U shows.
The Abandoned Pools new album, Armed to the Teeth has been moved to a 9/27 release.
The Director's Label is back at it again and this time there will be 4 DVDs released simultaneously on September 13th featuring the works of Anton Corbijn, Jonathan Glaze, Mark Romanek and Stéphane Sednaoui. Saves The Day has currently begun recording their follow-up to In Reverie with producer Steve Evetts, who produced the band's first two albums. Chris Conley and crew entered the studio with 18 new songs, including such working titles as "Head For The Hills", "Sound The Alarm", "Diseased", and "Eulogy." Their official website should soon undergo a facelift to include more studio information, but consider this your first heads-up.
While a tad late on our part, +/- released a new EP entitlted Bloodthirsty Butchers vs +/- back in April. However, the catch is that it was only released in Japan. The EP features Japan's Bloodthirsty Butchers covering four +/- tracks, and +/- covering three Bloodthirsty Butchers tracks. You can check out the album artwork over the band's website. In news related to albums we can actually buy in the US, +/- are currently in the studio working on the follow-up to You Are Here and should be done before Fall.
We told you a couple days ago that Daryl Palumbo's current illness has postponed many upcoming Head Automatica shows. Well, it seems the time on the sidelines has produced enough free time for Palumbo to speak with MTV. In this recent interview, Palumbo remarks on upcoming Head Automatica happenings, the future of Glassjaw and an upcoming project titled United Nations. It's worth noting that the MTV interview states that both original bassist Manuel "Manny" Carrero and drummmer Durijah Lang have now rejoined Glassjaw. In other news, another Daryl Palumbo-related side project, Cardboard City (featuring El-P and Cage), has posted two demos on their MySpace page. That's one busy guy.
AM Radio have posted two new tracks on their official website. The tracks are from recent sessions with producer Dan Flutur and intended for their new album.
In a recent post to their blog, guitarist Darren Robinson reported Phantom Planet may enter the studio sometime around August to begin recording (which is only a week or so away). "Ivory Daggers", "G.I.R.L.S.", "Victory Is Ours", "Movin' Out 2006" and "Torture Me" are a few titles being thrown around for the upcoming session. Though all information is likely to change, the band is indeed at least rehearsing and writng. And, we wanted to give you an update, 'cause we're like that.
