Paul McCartney is set to release his first new studio album in four years. The album, titled Chaos And Creation In The Back Yard, features 13 new tracks and was recorded over the past two years. Early reviews describe the new material as reminiscent of his solo debut, McCartney. To further add interest, the album was produced by none other than the inimitable Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Travis, Beck). Look for the album in stores on September 13th.

Fiery Furnaces pull a System of a Down

Fiery Furnaces plan to release two albums this year (as opposed to the rumored double-album). The first, Rehearsing My Choir, is due on October 25th and the second, Bitter Tea, is due sometime in early 2006. Expect hefty amounts of tour dates to pop up sometime soon.

Men, Women & Children Tour

As previously reported, Ex-Glassjaw member Todd Weinstock's new band Men, Women & Children have just finished recording their debut record with Mike Mogis, Josh Abraham and the team of Raine Maida & Jason Lader. Karate breaks up

In a surprising bit of news, Karate have decided to split ways after leaning that frontman Geoff Farina has such an immense level of detoriation in his hearing that he can no longer be in the band. Instead of trying to continue on without him, the group will be disbanding.

The Absolute Uncontrollable

The mighty Swift, hailing from Winston-Salem, NC, officially released their lastest effort, The Absolute Uncontrollable, earlier this month. The full-length album of new material comes after the departure and re-joining of founding guitarist Mikey Gentle. Head over their MySpace page to listen to "Silent Celebration" from the new album. Metric Returns The Studio

Metric is back in Canada after a long string of shows and back in the studio working on the follow-up to Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?. Other than writing and recording, the band will play the La Route de Rock Festival in Saint-Malo, France on August 14th.

Mates Of State Working On New Album

In addition to their upcoming show dates, Mates Of State are also hard at work on their follow-up to Team Boo. The dynamic duo plan on recording at least 10 songs during the month of August for the album. In a recent post their official website, vocalist/organist Kori Gardner revealed they had already completed one song with an unnamed, trial producer/engineer. Apparently, the resulting track was so well done she reported fans may "poo [their] pants" upon hearing the new song.

G. Love Would Like To Buy You A Coke

G. Love (sans Special Sauce, but plus one Coke commercial) jumped straight off his supporting dates with the Dave Matthews Band and into the studio. The sessions are in preparation to release the follow-up to last year's The Hustle.
